This soldier sacrificed his life and blocks a grenade explosion with his own body to save his comrades in Marawi City



Another soldier sacrificed his life for the country and for his comrades during the battle in Marawi on September 25.

Corporal Eric Delos Santos of the Philippine Marines died during the battle between the Maute Terrorist Group and government forces as the Armed Forces of the Philippines make another push into remaining Maute strongholds in Marawi City.

According to several news reports, CPL Delos Santos died while blocking a grenade thrown to them by the enemy.

There are also some information that the brave soldier from Tagalisay, Zamboanga City intentionally made himself a human shield to protect his comrades from the grenade explosion.

Corporal Delos Santos died after he received tremendous amount of damage from the shrapnel came from the explosion of the grenade.

The corporal was only married to his wife several months ago, before he was assigned to Marawi City to fight the terrorists in Marawi.

As of writing, the military death toll already reached 155, while the enemy death toll reached 749.



The government already expected that the Marawi Siege would be ended before this month ends.
